Manchester United released an official statement as they announced confirmed and potential exits amid naming players who are still contracted to Manchester United as the 2022/2023 season becomes history.
In an official statement released on ManUtd.com the club's official website. It read thus: As announced last month, centre-back Phil Jones is leaving after 12 years and 229 appearances for United.
Fellow defender Axel Tuanzebe is departing after 37 first-team appearances, having captained the Reds at every level since joining the Academy as an eight year-old. Axel wore the skipper's armband in a Carabao Cup tie against his hometown club, Rochdale, in 2019.
Tuanzebe, who famously got the better of Kylian Mbappe in our group-stage victory over Paris Saint-Germain in 2020/21, has been hugely unlucky with injuries during his time at United but returned to action on loan at Stoke City last season.
Ethan Galbraith and Di’Shon Bernard are seeking new opportunities elsewhere after loan spells at Salford City and Portsmouth, respectively. Both made their first-team debuts for United in a 2019 Europa League clash against Astana in Kazakhstan.
Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett are leaving the Academy after the end of their current terms. The Academy is proud of all our departing young players and their achievements while at the club. They will all be supported in securing professional contracts at new clubs, provided with a bespoke aftercare programme, and will always have a lifelong association with Manchester United.
