Man United preparing for a second Mason Mount bid alongside England teammate

According to Football365, Manchester United are set to launch a second bid for Chelsea academy graduate Mason Mount after seeing their first opening bid of £40 million rejected.

Erik Ten Hag is fighting to ensure he gets his transfer plans executed before the end of the summer transfer window, and Manchester United are expected to table an improved offer to Chelsea for their midfielder. The 24-year-old national teammate is also on the Red Devils radar.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed that Chelsea's stance regarding their asking price for the Cobham graduate is the only hurdle in the Red Devils pursuit of the England star, as Erik Ten Hag is aiming to get the deal concluded.

"It’s clear that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag appreciates the skillset that Mason Mount has. Though Chelsea rejected the Red Devils first offer of £40m and they will insist on a £70m fee, United believe that a deal can be done."

“The Red Devils have continued to send messages to Mount, making sure he knows how much they want him to join them. He is their priority signing. The player appreciates Ten Hag’s way of playing and his insistence on bringing Mount to Old Trafford."

“It’s an exciting project, and the player is remaining calm about the situation as there is no issue at all regarding personal terms. United are also happy as they know Mount is keen to make the move, but the main outstanding issue is Chelsea’s position on the price," Fabrizio wrote in his column for CaughtOffside.

This week, Manchester United are reported to be headed back for Mason Mount with an improved bid of £50 million, according to the Daily Mail.

The latest reports as well suggest that Manchester United are keen on Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, while the potential arrival of a goalkeeper is also in view.

An update from Fabrizio Romano alleged that Manchester United's number one, David De Gea, is prioritizing a stay at Old Trafford while extending his contract amid serious offers and heavy links with the Saudi Arabia Pro-League.

However, it is crystal clear that he will not be the first choice next season. Manchester United are heavily linked with FC Porto's Diogo Costa, while David Raya is also on the radar. Although the Spaniard has reportedly agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur, his price tag of £40 million is the only obstacle in his bid to leave Brentford.

The Daily Star also claims that Manchester United could prey on Everton's Jordan Pickford.

The report states: ‘Ten Hag has identified the Toffees number one, with 53 England caps, as the best option going between the posts—from being an excellent shot-stopper to his brilliant distribution.’

It’s claimed the Red Devils are preparing a £45 million bid.
