"Stay there pick up money"- Ambrose advises Harry Maguire amid Tottenham and Aston Villa interest

In light of Tottenham Hotspur rumors, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been advised to go for the sake of his career.

Darren Ambrose was talking about the future of the England international on TalkSPORT.

He was benched by Erik ten Hag after Lisandro Martinez was acquired from Ajax. Ten Hag chose full-back Luke Shaw to play in the center of defense even when Martinez or Raphael Varane were hurt.

Maguire's decreased playing time has led to speculation that he will leave the team. This summer, Harry Maguire might be leaving Old Trafford.

Maguire is a potential target for Spurs as they want to bolster their defensive options.

Last season, Tottenham's defense was weak, allowing more goals than any other top-half team.

With Tottenham showing interest in Maguire, it has now been suggested that he transfer this summer to restart his career. Aston Villa are as well showing strong interests and are ready to meet the 30 year old demands financially.

He might choose the simple route and finish out his deal at Manchester United, according to Darren Ambrose.

However, it can cause him to lose his spot in the England lineup before the European Championships take place next summer.

Ambrose was asked if Gareth Southgate can keep picking Maguire even if he’s not starting for Manchester United and said: “Yes, he can and he will. I think Harry Maguire knows this as well.

“I think he’s safe in the England squad at the moment, no matter what happens at Manchester United. So, I think he’s comfortable in staying if that’s what it takes and fighting for a place, or not, whatever the case may be.

“I feel as someone who played the game and then retired, you’ve got to get out and play, you’ve got to go and play football."

“But, if he goes somewhere else and his form dips again and he’s playing week in, week out then gets dropped from that team as well, then the likelihood of Gareth stop picking probably would come into play then."

“But, at the moment he’s comfortable. He knows whether he’s playing or not at Manchester United he’s in the England team, so why not?"

“What’s he got a year left at Manchester United? Stay there, pick up the money and then at the end of it, leave on a free.”

Since moving from Leicester City to Manchester United for a sizable sum, Harry Maguire's reputation has plummeted.

His performances for England haven't suffered though during that period.

Maguire may flourish on a team that doesn't play with such a high line, making a transfer to Tottenham plausible.

Ange Postecoglou like playing quick, aggressive football and will look to assault defenses on the break.

The defender, who is valued at £35 million, might be permitted to sit a little bit deeper, making up for his lack of speed.

He could also make better use of his excellent passing as he attempts to penetrate the first line of defense after retrieving the ball to launch Tottenham's assaults.
