Victor Osimhen's stay this summer is not guaranteed by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.
De Laurentiis says he cannot afford to deny down any offer, despite his reluctance to part ways with the Nigerian striker.
"I have said for a while that Osimhen has to stay. Then, if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli, then we would consider it, as is only natural," said De Laurentiis.
“We already talked to Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a basic agreement on a two-year extension of his contract. The other players, that is something we need to study with Rudi (Garcia), because I have for many years been convinced that pre-season training is fundamental."
“We refused to play the Gampert trophy with Barcelona, refused to play Manchester United, because we want to remain together and bring international teams to Castel di Sangro, so we avoid too much travelling."
What was heard
Victor Osimhen, a target for Manchester United, has a two-year contract extension in place, according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Osimhen is reportedly at the top of United's list as the team plans to bring in a top-tier goal striker this summer. The Red Devils are aware that before they can hire Osimhen, they will have to overcome tough challenges.
De Laurentiis, who is adamant about receiving somewhere in the neighborhood of €150 million for his talisman, must be overcome by United.
Speaking on The United Stand, Fabrizio Romano reaffirmed that United has made it clear to Napoli and the Osimhen camp that they have no intention of agreeing to the Serie A powerhouse's asking price.
United has a limited budget and cannot afford to spend a lot of money on just one player.
During the introduction of Rudi Garcia as Napoli's new manager, De Laurentiis addressed the media.
He revealed that he had already spoken with Osimhen regarding his future and said, "We spoke with Osimhen before I organized the Napoli party."
"We decide to extend for an additional two years with him."
De Laurentiis' remarks are just another serious setback for United, who are slowly losing sight of their goals. The 20-time English champions have already given up looking for Harry Kane.
Atalanta's refusal to negotiate a transfer fee for Rasmus Hojlund and Paris Saint-Germain's pursuit of Goncalo Ramos may force United to settle for lower-caliber players unless they take swift action.
