Moises Caicedo to serve as backup plan incase of Mason Mount transfer collapse

Although, Transfer Journalist, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Manchester United will complete Mason Mount's transfer deal next week. It appears the Red Devils have a contingency plan incase they fail to land the England international.

Manchester United is unsuccessful in acquiring Mason Mount, they will turn their attention to acquiring Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea has turned down two offers from United for Mount. The second one cost £50 million.

Despite the player's contract expiring there in the summer, the West London club is refusing to accept less than £70 million.
Despite these denials, the source indicates that the Red Devils are optimistic in their ability to sign the 24-year-old because Erik ten Hag likes him and wants to have him on the team.

But if Chelsea's obstinacy makes that impossible, they would shift their focus to trying to sign Caicedo, who is Chelsea's top target this summer.

Even though we are now in real life, this all sounds like a movie plot. The Blues appear to be in the driver's seat in this situation because they stand to lose Mount for nothing next summer but will be able to pay for Caicedo's departure thanks to player sales.

On the other hand, if Chelsea acquires the Ecuadorian international and insists on paying Mount's asking price, United could find themselves in a pickle.

It would therefore be crucial for the team to ensure that the latter visits Old Trafford. Ten Hag is fond of him for a reason. He is a skilled athlete who also puts in a lot of effort off the field.

By the way, this is not meant to diminish Caicedo's skill as a player. However, we sincerely doubt that United will be able to sign both him and Mount in the same window. They each have a unique player profile and set of skills.
