Manchester United set plans for Mason Greenwood's loan move ahead of next campaign

After finishing the 2022–23 Premier League season, Manchester United can now focus on selecting first-team players for the upcoming season. This includes Mason Greenwood, who hasn't played for the Red Devils in 18 months.

Greenwood nervously awaited word from his club regarding what they intended to do regarding his contract with them after a difficult personal matter was addressed.

Simply because of the nature of Greenwood's alleged off-field transgressions, no matter whatever direction Erik ten Hag and the board take, they will inevitably court controversy. The sooner they decide, the better, but they do still need to make a choice.

A loan agreement to a squad in either Spain, Italy, or Turkey may be the best course of action, according to the Daily Mail, which claims the decision may not be too far off.

There is a school of thinking that holds that Greenwood should be allowed to continue with his work regardless of his innocence because everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty and he has never been found guilty in a court of law.

What was heard about Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood's future could be decided in the coming weeks as Manchester United nears the conclusion of their internal inquiry into his behavior.

The 21-year-old hasn't played for the team since January 2022, when United suspended him following claims about his personal life that appeared on social media.

In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault causing actual bodily damage.

The club launched its own internal inquiry in order to acquire a "more complete understanding" of the claims after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped those charges against Greenwood in February.

During that time, Greenwood has been suspended, and based on the findings of the investigation, United will decide what to do next.

Although there was no set deadline for the probe, it was unlikely to be finished once the season entered its final stretch; nonetheless, it might be done while negotiations over a prospective takeover continue and the Glazer family is still considering bids for the club.

United has not yet completed its inquiry into Greenwood, but the process has advanced and a resolution is drawing near.

The Glazers will ultimately decide what course of action to pursue against the player after consulting with CEO Richard Arnold.
