Man United launches opening bid for striker after ending Harry Kane's interest

After reports from 24 hours ago suggested that Manchester United were pulling out of Harry Kane's pursuit, transfer journalist Alfredo Pedulla, according to ManUtdNews, has indicated that the 20-time Premier League champions are preparing to make an opening bid for Atlanta's Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United are currently looking at other options for a new striker as Harry Kane's deal is stalling.

Man United feel that Tottenham never wanted to sell Kane to them; there are no plans to enter into a two-month saga.

Ten Hag loves Kane, but due to the Spurs position and financial package, it makes no sense to wait again at this point.

Manchester United would still be interested if Tottenham decided to replace Kane, but this appears unlikely at the moment.

"Rasmus Hjlund, one of the names on the list as a potential striker option, signed with SEG agency," Fabrizio Romano tweeted.

They are likely to prioritize Rasmus Hojlund after calling off Harry Kane's pursuit. Alfredo Pedulla stated that Manchester United are ready to table a €60 million opening bid plus bonuses for the 20-year-old, but Atlanta are expected to request their prized asset.

While there are no official bids yet, the Seria A outfit is reportedly anticipating a €70 million bid from the Red Devils for a player who was signed for €17 million from Sturm Graz last summer.

The Dane, who is yet to find consistency but has proven himself as a potential excellent striker, registered 16 goals and 7 assists across all competitions for Atlanta.

The 20-year-old has been deemed another version of Erling Haaland, given his pace, impressive finishing, and powerful left foot. His moves and positioning in the six-yard box indicate he also has Haaland's goal-poaching flair.

Critics stated that Manchester United's opening bid of €60 million is acceptable given the current transfer market, but paying Atalanta's asking price of €70 million will be against the odds for a player who is not a proven elite.

The Red Devils are also being tipped to pursue Juventus striker Duan Vlahovi as a better alternative to Rasmus Hojlund. Considering that they are both valued at the same price, Duan Vlahovi has 61 Seria A goals to his name.

But Manchester United are at an advantage, as Rasmus Hojlund's recent interview has indicated he is positive and open to a move to Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund hinted that he has someone on trial with an agent company. Hojlund told local media in Denmark, as per SportsBible "I have got someone [from an agent company]. But they are on a trial period. It's a trial period, and that's all I can say."

The 20-year-old further clarified the fact that Manchester United's manager, Erik Ten Hag, has been in touch with him via video chats.

“There has been no video call,” Hojlund told Danish outlet Berlingske. “I can't say anything about that."

“It's a huge club, so I must have done something right if it says they want me. My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is there. So it will be huge.”
