Paul Parker advices Amad Diallo over Old Trafford's future as young Swedish keeper reacts to United's rumors

Manchester United will give Amad Diallo a shot at a first-team spot at Old Trafford this summer, but Tony Mowbray is still hopeful of re-signing the forward at Sunderland next season.

Amad's loan term at the Stadium of Light will conclude at the end of the season, which might mean that Monday's game at Preston is his final game in red and white if the Black Cats fail to make the play-offs.

The Ivory Coast international has been a big success in the last nine months, and Sunderland would ideally like to be able to rely on his talents again next season, regardless of the league they play in.

Les Parry, Manchester United's head of loan players, paid Mowbray a visit at the Academy of Light earlier this week and expressed his delight at Amad's growth during his stay on Wearside. However, he also stated Erik ten Hag's desire to name the 20-year-old to his first-team squad for pre-season, which reduces the likelihood of Amad being loaned out again next season.

“The loan manager from Manchester United was in this week and we had a good chat, I was saying it's a shame we didn't do a two-year loan!"

“I think Man United are happy, but I think the next step is for them to take Amad on pre-season to America. That’s what I think is going to happen. Then they’ll see how he gets on."

“They know what they’ve got, they bought him, but I think when the new manager came in, it was right on the cusp of whether they were going to keep him or not. He liked some of the stuff, but then he maybe wasn’t sure about other things."

“I’m sure he’s been watching Amad’s clips from games, just as I watch all of our players who are out on loan, and seeing what he can do. But he’ll need to see him on a daily basis and feel what he brings."

“I’m sure everyone will have an opinion on whether he’s good enough or not good enough for Man United, but the reality is that the manager needs to watch him, see and feel him in a game, and see what he brings.”

Manchester United legend Paul Parker has pushed Amad Diallo to stay on loan for another season in agreement with Tony Mowbray's wanting the former Atalanta teenager at Sunderland

This season, the youthful winger has impressed on loan at Sunderland in the Championship.

Parker believes that Amad needs one more season, potentially in the Premier League, away from United to reach his full potential.

Parker told FutFanatico: “I don't think that Amad is going to play a role next season. Sunderland are on a good run at the moment, so they are on a high.

“I've seen some games with him and he has done well but I'm still not sure about him. I expect him to go out on loan again because Man United want him to play games and he is not going to do that at Man United."

“Those people saying that on social media might have seen a YouTube compilation with Amad but remember what Antony looked like on YouTube. He was amazing."

“Football is not YouTube and he can't claim a regular spot yet. Antony is still a better player but maybe in the future Amad can do something for Man United."

Loepold Wahlstedt reacts to Man United's rumors

Leopold Wahlstedt, for Odds BK's Goalie, is impressed by Manchester United's interest in him.

The 23-year-old is a top-flight Norwegian player. The Red Devils' scouts have been keeping tabs on the Sweden international and the young goalkeeper's growth. Apart from Manchester United, Premier League rivals Liverpool are also interested in him.

Wahlstedt was asked about being associated with teams in the English Premier League while speaking to Fotboll Skanalen (h/t Manchester Evening News). The shot-stopper acknowledged his gratitude but remained tight-lipped regarding the future.

“It’s fun when it’s written positively about clubs seeing what you’re doing, then you’ve done something good. They are absolutely big clubs. But I don’t want to comment on any specific club’s interest or anything like that.”

David de Gea is now the number one goalkeeper for Manchester United. For nearly a decade, the Spain international has been the first choice between the posts at Old Trafford.

The former Atletico Madrid star's current deal with the Red Devils, though, is set to expire at the conclusion of the season. To that end, the Manchester club hopes to extend the veteran goalkeeper's contract.

United's squad also includes Tom Heaton and Jack Butland, in addition to the 32-year-old. The Crystal Palace loanee, however, is slated to leave the club next summer. As a result, we are expected to sign a new goalkeeper during the upcoming transfer window.

Wahlstedt is a talented young Norwegian goalkeeper who plays for Odds BK. Arendal Fotball signed the Swedish national for Skagerak Arena in 2021.

The 23-year-old has worked his way into the starting lineup of the Scandinavian club over the years. Earlier this year, the shot-stopper made his international debut in a 2-0 friendly triumph against Finland.

Wahlstedt's career still has a long way to go. The Sweden international, on the other hand, has shown a lot of promise. But it remains to be seen whether United will sign him in the near future.
