Dean Henderson's £25 million price tag for Manchester United is unpopular with Nottingham Forest.
According to The Athletic [h/t Manchester Evening News], Premier League opponents Nottingham Forest are hesitant to spend £25 million for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
The Tricky Trees are optimistic, though, that they can work out a deal with the Red Devils to hire the England international this summer.
The 26-year-old played with the City Ground team on loan for the 2022–23 campaign. The West Bridgford-based team now wants to hang onto the talented goalie.
Henderson progressed through the Old Trafford team's youth system. The goalkeeper might be on the way, though, as a deal is anticipated to be rapidly finalized after David de Gea signs a new set of terms.
After a promising period with Sheffield United, the Englishman appeared to be Man United's next top player. The 26-year-old and the former Atletico Madrid goalie played together sometimes for the Red Devils during the 2020–21 season.
However, the Spaniard kept his place in the starting lineup, depriving Henderson of consistent playing time. The shot-stopper at Forest sparkled in the first half of the season.
Unfortunately, a recent injury has limited the English national's playing time. However, the City Ground team avoided the drop thanks to Keylor Navas, who joined the Tricky Trees on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January.
Erik ten Hag prefers De Gea to be the goalkeeper for Manchester United. The Spaniard has made a lot of mistakes, though. The 32-year-old's distribution also needs a lot of improvement.
Henderson appears to be a respectable fallback choice. It would obviously not be such a bad thing to hold on to the 26-year-old if Forest are unwilling to pay the Old Trafford club the minimum fee.
Elsewhere, Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Manchester United will not allow defender Victor Lindelof to leave Old Trafford during the next summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old is expected to follow team captain Harry Maguire when he exits to start his career afresh at another club next summer. Victor Lindelof was relegated to the fifth choice of Erik Ten Hag's defensive options and played only a handful of games.
He was only able to get some runs of games up his sleeve following Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Harry Maguire's injuries. which he made a serious impact and sent out a message to the team boss with his displays.
But back in March, he hinted he wasn't happy sitting on the bench at Old Trafford and would consider his options as per what happens before the season climaxes.
La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid and Seria A giants Inter Milan have already shown interest in the Sweden national team captain but were told he wasn't available back in January.
"Manchester United have decided not to accept any loan or permanent deal bid for Victor Lindelof. He’s staying; Ten Hag counts on him.
Inter approached United for Lindelof in the last few days; Atlético Madrid also asked for him weeks ago," Fabrizio Romano tweeted back in January.
Fast forward to a few days before the start of the summer transfer window, and Fabrizio Romano has dropped a new update from Carrington training center that indicates that Erik Ten Hag is not ready to let go of the former SL Benfica ace.
"Erik ten Hag has never changed position on Victor Lindelöf — he’s untouchable. The same message sent to Atlético and Inter last January is still valid now. 🔴⛔️ #MUFC
Eintracht were never in concrete talks with Manchester United. Atlético and Inter were keen on signing him, but there was no chance," Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter.
As it stands, Manchester United have resigned themselves to allowing Harry Maguire to leave after falling behind the pecking order, albeit after a horrible season at Old Trafford.
News of his replacement in the form of Kim Min Jae and Axel Disasi is in place, and the arrival of either of these defenders or both could force Victor Lindelof to seek a life away from Old Trafford.
However, Victor Lindelof has shown he is capable of playing in Erik Ten Hag's style of football and his ratings when he finally got a run of games towards the end of last season proved the 29 -year-old just needed a good partner in the heart of Manchester United's defense.
