Man United pulls out of Oshimen's race amid hefty transfer fees for Harry Kane's alternatives

A fresh striker is desperately needed by the Manchester United Football Club. That much should be clear. Harry Kane was the ideal target, as Erik ten Hag made plain quite early on.

The Englishman, though, is appearing more and more likely to stay at Spurs, so United will have to search elsewhere.

The links will increase in regularity up until a striker of the highest caliber is signed. Goncalo Ramos is the next intesified Manchester United bound transfer rumor.

The Sun is the source of the news. According to them, United 'are being given' the chance to sign the 21-year-old forward.

Ramos is reportedly valued at over £80 million by Benfica, with Tottenham Hotspur and the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, attempting to instigate a bidding war.

The fact that United is 'on the prowl' for more firepower for the upcoming campaign has been reaffirmed as they attempt to find support for Marcus Rashford.

Ramos led his team in goals with 25, but Benfica won't accept anything less than the aforementioned £80 million price tag. Mendes is reportedly exerting significant effort to secure his client's transfer to the Premier League, ideally this summer.

Although the young Portuguese striker has a good eye for goal, he may not yet be fully developed. Yes, there would be some contradictions if Ramos was signed and given the starting job right away. But the capacity is so plainly present.

This wouldn't be a terrible backup plan for Ten Hag if Kane wasn't accessible, but once again, the cost might play a crucial role in this choice. Spending that much money on a player who might be viewed as a risky acquisition is outrageous. However, Goncalo Ramos national team teammate and country man, Bruno Fernandes have given Man United his confidence regarding the striker's talents.

"The best always come in handy, be it Goncalo or another player," Fernandes told Sport TV (via A Bola) last month. "I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say Premier League I also mean Manchester United."

"I think he could become a great reference in the coming years, but it's still not in my hands to be sports director."

While Manchester United still have a number of alternatives to choose from, it appears the Red Devils have pulled out of Napoli's Victor Oshimen's pursuit. While Atalanta is maintaining their stance on a €100 million transfer fee for Rasmus Hojlund.

According to Football Fancast, Manchester United will not enter the potential summer transfer squabble for Nigerian superstar Victor Oshimen but will continue their thorough search for a world-class striker.

As reported in their article, "Mentioning strikers, let me clarify one thing on Victor Osimhen."

"For Victor Osimhen, on Manchester United's side, they feel he is too expensive at current conditions at €150 million; this is what Napoli want for Victor Osimhen.

"And so, at the moment, Manchester United are not entering into any bidding war for Victor Osimhen because €150 million is considered too much."

That means the Red Devils have turned their backs on Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, if the reports are correct, with the former in position to remain at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

Other options will not be cheap either, as Kolo Muani, Rasmus Hojlund, and Goncalo Ramos are being valued at €100 million by their respective clubs.

However, Christian Eriksen has heaped praise on Rasmus Hojlund for his rise in the last few months.

"I can see him [Hojlund] at Manchester United, but I haven’t recommended him to Erik ten Hag,” Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet. “He is a fantastic guy and a good player, and he has really developed brilliantly at Atlanta." What the club ends up doing, I will not be able to answer.”

According to some reports, Danish youngster Rasmus Hojlund is believed to be on the radar of those at Old Trafford this summer.

“It's a huge club, so I must have done something right if it says they want me. My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is there. So it will be huge,” he told a Danish outlet amid the links to the Red Devils.
