Frankfurt plotting Victor Lindelof's transfer as United gets 31 goal striker validation

Victor Lindelof is starting contract renewal discussions with Man United, but sources have told Football Insider that Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt is still interested in the defender.

The 28-year-old's Old Trafford contract has a one-year expiration date, but there is an optional one-year extension clause.

On Saturday, June 17, Football Insider reported that Lindelof had begun negotiations for a new terms contract at Man United.

According to a reliable source, the center-back "earned the trust" of manager Erik ten Hag following a succession of standout performances towards the conclusion of the 2022–23 season.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano as well hinted that Erik Ten Hag blocked a proposed move away from Old Trafford for the Sweden national team captain, deeming him untouchable.

"Erik ten Hag has never changed position on Victor Lindelöf — he’s untouchable. The same message sent to Atlético and Inter last January is still valid now. 🔴⛔️ #MUFC," Fabrizio wrote.

Eintracht were never in concrete talks with Manchester United. Atlético and Inter were keen on signing him, but there was no chance," Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter.

Man United, however, is eager to bring in a new elite defense during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils' pursuit of Kim Min-jae from Napoli is likely to be thwarted by Bayern Munich, according to a report from Football Insider published on Friday (16 June).

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are already ahead of Lindelof in Ten Hag's hierarchy.

As a result, it is thought that in order to stay at the club, he will have to take a backup position.

All parties are content with the current situation as talks begin, a reliable Red Devils source has told Football Insider.

However, Eintracht Frankfurt is awaiting action and might try to seize the initiative if negotiations fail.

In the 2022–23 season, Lindelof, who reportedly makes £120,000 a week, made 35 appearances in all competitions.

The former Benfica player joined the team in 2017, but it wasn't until Man United won the League Cup in February that he took home his first prize in England.
